Elton Chigumbura will resume day three on 45 while Malcolm Waller will partner him on 30.
An aggressive knock of 77 from 147 balls from Nasir Hossain guided Bangladesh to 391 all out before some assured bowling from Robiul Islam put Bangladesh in control of the test.
Islam dismissed Vusi Sibanda and Regis Chakabva for just 10 and 12 respectively to leave the Zimbabwe openers stunned.
Chakabva was unfortunate to lose his wicket as his bat appeared to not touch the ball before he was caught behind by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim.
Zimbabwe lost another wicket as Shakib Al Hasan bowled Hamilton Masakadza for 14 in his first over of the day to leave the home side struggling on 47-3 at tea.
Captain Brendan Taylor survived some excellent bowling to reach six not out at tea but was caught by Hasan off the bowling of Sohag Gazi for 36.
Earlier in the day Ziaur Rahman lost his wicket in the fourth over of the day for Bangladesh when he was trapped lbw by Keegan Meth.
But Hossain and Gazi put on a 51-run stand for the eight wicket before both were dismissed by leg-spinner Graeme Cremer.
Tail-ender Robial Islam added an entertaining knock of 24 not out including two fours and two sixes as Bangladesh finished their innings strongly after being 4-125 at one point on day one of the Test.
