July 03, Colombo: The Chief Executive Officer of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), Surekha Sellahewa has tendered her resignation. The resignation is effective from the 31st of October 2013.
Ms. Sellahewa has served as the CEO at the Colombo Stock Exchange for the last seven years having served in the organization for a period of over 23 years.
Head of Market Development of the Colombo Stock Exchange, Niroshan Wijesundara said that Ms. Sellahewa based her resignation on ‘personal reasons’ in a letter to the CSE dated 1st of July 2013.
She has started her career at the Mercantile Tours Pvt. Ltd. and has joined the Colombo Stock Exchange as an Assistant manager of Surveillance and Administration. She had been promoted as the Manager Surveillance and Enforcement in 1991 and in the same year has been re-designated as the ‘Senior Manager – Surveillance & Enforcement’. Due to her hard work and commitment, she was made the ‘Senior Manager – Listings and Surveillance’ thus enhancing her responsibilities to two key divisions of the CSE. In 2006 she was handed over the reins of the CSE when she was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
