MICHAEL Hussey has scored 86 to help his Chennai Super Kings to a 10-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League in Mohali.
Chennai were led by their bowlers who dismissed Punjab for just 138 before their opening batsmen Hussey and Murali Vijay (50) chased it down with 16 balls remaining.
Hussey survived a nervous moment as a direct hit from Ryan Harris seemed to catch him short, but the third umpire ruled in the batsman’s favour, giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Later he smashed Azhar Mahmood for a six and a boundary to take his team to the verge of victory.
Chennai eventually reached the target in the 18th over.
Earlier, Chennai put Punjab into bat and struck early as Dirk Nannes first had Adam Gilchrist (9) caught by Hussey at leg gully before having Mandeep Singh (9) miscue a pull shot.
Manan Vohra (16) smashed Chris Morris for two boundaries, before being caught by Hussey off Ravindra Jadeja.
