Pakistani umpires Nadeem Ghauri and Anis Siddiqui have been suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for four and three years respectively for corruption.

The pair fell victim to a TV sting operation purporting to offer financial rewards in exchange for the umpires giving favourable or dubious decisions.

As a former member of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Elite Panel, Ghauri was handed a longer sentence by the PCB Integrity Committee, which was chaired by PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf.

“The PCB has a zero tolerance policy for corruption or indiscipline,” Ashraf said.

“We are committed on creating awareness amongst our players and officials with regards to the possible pitfalls, and are determined to adopt all vigilance and security parameters, which are in line with the laid out procedures of the ICC. Today’s decision reiterates the commitment of the PCB to keep our great sport free of all corrupt practices.”
