Apr 17, Colombo: A private electronic media institution in Sri Lanka, the Maharaja Television and Maharaja Broadcasting Corporation (MTV/MBC) has lodged a complaint at police over threats to its journalists.
The network officials have complained to the police about an imminent attack on their journalists.
Head of MTV Channel, Chevaan Daniel has told the media that the network has received information that there is a group plotting to attack their journalists, in either Colombo or Ratmalana.
He has explained that some of the journalists have been named, and were mentioned as being under constant surveillance, while others were cited as being under threat of actual physical violence.
Meanwhile, the police have said that investigations have already commenced into the complaints received from the network.
The MTV/MBC Network had come under attack several times in the past including an arson attack in 2008. In 2010, police arrested 16 people for attacking and injuring several MTV employees and damaging several vehicles that were parked inside the office premises.
