* Production drops at Sri Lanka's sole petroleum refinery due to maintenanceTue, Jul 2, 2013, 06:59 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.
July 02, Colombo: Sri Lanka Minister of Petroleum Anura Priyadarshana Yapa says that there is a drop in production of petrol in the country's sole refinery at Sapugaskanda due to a maintenance action.
The Minister said that the Sapugaskanda refinery is undergoing maintenance work for three days and a part of the refinery is being de-carboned.
The drop in production is limited to petrol and there is no decline in production of diesel, the Minister said.
He said the repairs would be completed within a few days.
The refinery temporarily halted its operations last month due to delay in getting crude oil. The production capacity of the refinery has dropped to 200 metric tons a day now due to the unavailability of Iranian light crude, according to officials.
