Ross Taylor’s Pune Warriors have suffered their second successive loss to start the 2013 Indian Premier League Twenty20 cricket league.
Having made just 104 in an opening loss to Hyderabad three days ago, Pune crawled to 99-9 from their 20 overs batting first against the Kings XI Punjab, who polished off the tiny target inside 13 overs for the loss of just two wickets.
Taylor made 15 from 19 balls batting at No 5 but was the victim of a sensational catch by Gurkeerat Singh, who dived at full stretch at deep backward square leg and grasped the catch in one hand as the ball looked to be destined for the boundary.
Taylor then dropped a simple catch at first slip.
The former New Zealand captain now has 34 runs from two innings this season, having in February been traded to Pune from Delhi, who signed him last season for US$1 million. Pune is his fourth IPL team, having previously played for Bangalore and Rajasthan before his move to Delhi.
