Rajasthan Royals made it two wins from two in the Indian Premier League with a 19-run victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday.
Chasing 145 for victory, the Knight Riders were bowled out for 125 off the final ball of the penultimate over at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
West Indies paceman Kevon Cooper continued his good form with the ball, recording match-best figures of 3-15 from his four overs, while Siddharth Trivedi took three wickets.
Cooper claimed the all-important wicket of Englishman Eoin Morgan, who almost singlehandedly guided the defending champions to their second win before he was dismissed for 51 with two overs remaining.
Captain Gautam Gambhir (22), Manoj Tiwary (14) and Rajat Bhatia (11) were the only other Knight Riders batsmen to reach double figures.
Earlier, Brad Hodge and Ajinkya Rahane led the way with strong batting performances after the Royals were sent to the crease.
Hodge smashed an unbeaten 46 runs off 31 deliveries, an innings that included seven boundaries, while Rahane chipped in with 36 off 34 before he was sent packing by West Indian spinner Sunil Narine (2-28).
Rahul Dravid (17), Stuart Binny (14) and Dishant Yagnik (16) all made solid contributions as Australian all-rounder Shane Watson (five) failed to fire in his return for the Royals.
However, Hodge and Rahane’s display guided the hosts to 144-6, a total which proved good enough for victory.
Kolkata face Royal Challengers Bangalore next up on Thursday, while Rajasthan travel to Pune Warriors a day later.
