Somerset will now stage their Yorkshire Bank 40 match against Yorkshire on August 15 at Taunton, due to concerns over the pitch at Bath.
The outground had been set to host the fixture, yet a detailed pitch survey and inspection has led to a change of plan.
Somerset CEO Guy Lavender said: “This is very disappointing for everyone concerned and we apologise for the inconvenience that this change of venue will inevitably cause.
“We felt that it was necessary to make a decision at this stage in order to minimise the disruption to those making plans to come from Yorkshire, our own supporters and our commercial partners in Bath.”
Michael Davis, chairman of the Bath and Wilts Area Committee, said: “We are very disappointed that Somerset County Cricket Club has had to make this decision.
“The England & Wales Cricket Board has inspected and advised Somerset against playing the fixture this year at Bath and we must respect the decision under these circumstances, with all the potential consequences if things did not go well.
“We are pleased that Somerset has again confirmed its long-term intention to play at Bath. We have a lot of work to do locally to ensure that we have a venue in which everyone can have confidence. In our view, this has got to be the Rec.”
Those who have purchased tickets for the fixture will be contacted shortly by post and will be given the option to:
1) Transfer their ticket/s to the rearranged match at the County Ground, Taunton.
