Apr 27, London: Following the confirmation that Sri Lanka will be hosting the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in November, External Affairs Minister Prof. G. L. Peiris has briefed the Secretary General of the Commonwealth Kamalesh Sharma on the arrangements for the meeting.

Prof. Peiris had discussions at Marlborough House in London with Mr. Sharma about the arrangements well under way for the CHOGM meeting to be held in Colombo in November, the External Affairs Ministry said.

The members of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) met Friday at the Marlborough House in London has decided that there would be no change in venue of the CHOGM and Colombo will hold the summit as planned.

Minister Peiris also briefed the Secretary General regarding the government’s plans for three other major events on the sidelines of the Summit – the Business Forum in Colombo, the Youth Forum in Hambantota and the People’s Forum in Dambulla.

Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner in the United Kingdom, Dr. Chris Nonis also attended the discussion.
