Apr 10, Colombo: Sri Lanka Ministry of External Affairs has decided to register all the Sri Lankan expatriate workers employed in various parts of South Korea.
The registration process will be carried out with the support of the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau, an External Affairs Ministry spokesman said.
Sri Lanka still continues to send its citizens for jobs in South Korea and 80 migrant workers left for South Korea today also.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said today that the government should take steps to safeguard the Sri Lankan employees in South Korea.
He said that of the 40,000 some Sri Lankans employed in South Korea, the majority work in Seoul, an area which is under severe threat of North Korea’s missile attacks.
