Mar 10, Colombo: Governing party parliamentarian of Sri Lanka Duminda Silva who is accused of murder and is under arrest will re-enter politics, his lawyer, President’s Counsel Hemantha Warnakulasuriya told media.
Silva, who returned to the country from Singapore last week after receiving medical treatment for over a year for the gun shot injuries he sustained during a shootout, is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.
Warnakulasuriya said that Silva is likely to re-enter politics around July or August this year after completing his medical treatment.
Sri Lanka’s Parliament last week approved three months leave for MP Silva with effect from March 22.
The parliamentarian and 12 others are charged with the killings of four people including the presidential adviser Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra in a shootout in Kolonnawa on the local government election day in October 2011.
