Moin Khan soars, Kemar Roach survives!

Former Pakistan skipper and wicketkeeper-batsman Moin Khan is arguably the second most powerful figure in Pakistan cricket establishment now. Moin, who was the head coach of Pakistan in the recent WT20 has now taken on twin responsibilities as Chief Selector of PCB as well as the manager of Pakistan cricket team. Having operated under interim management for much of 2013, Pakistan look to restore some stabiilty with a solid run to Moin. PCB chairman Najam Sethi, who has himself been part of a musical chair of sorts, with Zaka Ashraf in recent months – it is understood – wanted Moin for several posts given his solid reputation and rapport with team members.

Former Pakistan batsman Zaheer Abbas has also been appointed as the principal advisor to PCB chairman. Getting two accomplished former test cricketers in the set up is a positive move for PCB and Pakistan Cricket, who look to offer fuss-free 2014 season. The position of Chief Selector was vacant ever since Iqbal Qasim had decided not to renew his PCB contract

Meanwhile, West Indies paceman Kemar Roach took his ‘speed’ a bit too seriously, as he was involved in a near fatal accident in his native Barbados over the weekend. On slippery roads owing to overnight rain in Bridgetown, he lost control and his BMW sedan flipped several times over, barely half-a-mile from the 3Ws Oval. Two wheels broke off and airbags got deployed even as Roach sustained head wounds. However, as the local police and paramedics reached the spot, Roach was found still coherent and conscious. He later took to Twitter to confirm he was feeling better.
